The Early History of Reentry Physics Research at Lincoln Laboratory
نویسنده
چکیده
IIIDuring the period from June 1958 through September 1965 Lincoln Laboratory engaged in a reentry measurements program that developed radar and optical instrumentation for observing the phenomena associated with the hypervelocity reentry ofpayloads into the earth's atmosphere. This article describes both the Lincoln Laboratory effort and the development and launching of reentry test vehicles by NASA.

Optimal Trajectory Study of a Small Size Waverider and Wing-Body Reentry Vehicle at Suborbital Entry Speed of Approximately 4 km/s with Dynamic Pressure and Heat Rate Constraint
A numerical trajectory optimization study of two types of lifting-entry reentry vehicle has been presented at low suborbital speed of 4.113 km/s and -15 degree entry angle. These orbital speeds are typical of medium range ballistic missile with ballistic range of approximately 2000 km at optimum burnout angle of approximately 41 degree for maximum ballistic range. A lifting reentry greatly enha...

The landmark construction of the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA)–Lincoln C-band Observables Radar (ALCOR) at Kwajalein Atoll in 1970 sparked significant interest in the ballistic missile defense (BMD) and satellite-identification communities [1]. ALCOR's 50 cm range resolution using 512 MHz bandwidth data confirmed the viability of valuable new BMD discrimination techniques and provide...
متن کاملThe Effect of Teaching History of Physics on Student-Teachers’ Understanding of the Process of Model Construction in Physics
To improve student teachers’ understanding of the process of model construction in Physics, it was hypothesized that teaching the history of Physics may be of help. To test this hypothesis, two groups of senior year female student-teachers in Teaching of Physics at one of the campuses of Farhangian University in Tehran were chosen: One group had passed a course on the history of Physics, while ...
